May 2020 Newsletter

This has been a strange spring for artists with galleries closed and events cancelled. I’ve been busy painting in my studio, but also refocusing my time on other projects to try to make a bit of a difference.

New Paintings

You can find a list of all of my available work on my website.

View Point Art Gallery in Nelson, BC has been working hard to launch their online store. As of May 1st, the store is up and ready for online shopping. The gallery carries a lot of my work. Check them out here:

Upcoming Events

Waterfall Paint Along

Do you want to learn to paint? This is a free event over Facebook Live to work on a small painting together. Bring your own art supplies and follow along. May 27th at 7pm PST. Find event details and supply list on Facebook.

Plein Air Paint Outs

If you’re a fellow Kootenay artist, I am organizing some paint outs in local parks. Bring your own supplies and ideas and we’ll admire each other’s work from afar. Join the Kootenay Plein Air Artists group on Facebook to follow along or create your own paint out events.

The Kootenay Colouring Book

This is a special COVID-19 project to provide folks a safe indoor activity while raising funds for the Nelson Community Food Centre. With the support of local businesses Hall Printing and Cowan Office Supplies, we’ve been able to sell over 400 books to date!

A final batch of 150 books is being printed and will be available after the May long weekend. To learn more about the book, go here:

Buy “Kootenay Colouring”

A colouring book of mountain landscapes! All proceeds will support the Nelson Community Food Centre.

Seven pages in the book are also available as a free PDF download if you have a printer at home and are unable to purchase a book.

Special COVID-19 Products

In addition to the colouring book project, I’ve added two new products that are available to buy online.

Masks

These cloth face masks feature my favourite paintings. They are re-usable and washable. For every mask sold, Redbubble will donation one to Heart to Heart International. I will also donate all of my artist profit from these sales to the Kootenay Lake Hospital Foundation.

Puzzles

I’ve also uploaded 3 paintings as jigsaw puzzles. This is just a fun activity to do indoors.

That’s all for now! Hope everyone is staying safe and well!
