We will do some warm-up exercises to explore different yellow pigments and their properties, with a discussion on how to to create luminosity with paint. Then we will paint an alpine scene with golden larches, step-by-step together.

  • Suitable for beginners and experienced artists
  • Artists should be comfortable with using Zoom as a meeting participant
  • Participants will get a summary sheet after the workshop as well as access to the recording for 30 days.

Supplies list

  • Flat 1/4″ paint brush
  • Acrylic paint: primary magenta, primary blue, carbon black, titanium white and a variety of yellow pigments:
      • Cadmium Yellow Medium Hue
      • Nickle Azo Yellow
      • Yellow Ochre
      • Note: artist-quality paints are recommended for best results (Golden or M. Graham). If you don’t want to buy too much yellow paint, you can just bring a Cadmium Yellow and watch the demo rather than painting the stripes exercise yourself.

  • Mixing palette (can use wax paper or the lid of a container too)
  • Pencil and eraser

Cancellation policy

  • If Abby cancels the workshop for any reason, all participants will be fully refunded.
  • Participants may cancel up to 48 hours in advance and be refunded. However, cancellations with less than 48 hours before the workshop will NOT be refunded as it is difficult to fill empty spaces at the last minute.
